Rotary family health days start this year in October. Starting in Bushbuck Ridge, Mpumalanga Family Health Days will take place in all 9 Provinces and at 120 sites nationwide. There will be a number of sites across the Western Cape with members of Rotary working side by side with health workers like the hugely successful Polio eradication campaign. Rotary International is seeing this development as major an opportunity to improve the health of world wide populations.
The National Director of the program, Sue Paget, spoke to our Club last Tuesday explained that the Global program as well as the South African implementation would include Dentistry, Mental Health and malaria prevention. It is a huge and exciting program endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Health and brings together sponsors, volunteers, and health workers from both the public and private sectors.
This year Constantia, Wynberg and Kromboom Rotary Clubs will again join forces and provide the Cape Flats communities with the opportunity to interface with health workers and understand more about their health conditions and what can be done about them. Club Rotoractors and Interactors will play a role and help publicise the days.
